This app is a unique and fun way to better understand and memorize aspects of music theory and musical scales, key signatures, etc. Well worth the $!!
This app is great. For the first time, I feel like I can finally learn to read music. Having played by ear has always been a block to learning to be a sight reader. This just may do the trick for me.
If you play an instrument, you need to learn to read music. Reading music is like learning a new language. You need to learn the basics and keep challenging yourself with real world scenarios and quizzes. ClefTutor does just that. It gives you a basic education of music theory and reading music then steps you through focused lessons and quizzes to build your knowledge and understanding. You can track the scores and progress of up to 4 different users and will grow with you as your music knowledge grows.
I like the format, and it is very helpful in clef quizzes. However, the flats in tenor clef are not in the right place.
Really like the app a ton. Loaded with info and a great way to improve each day anywhere. A must for those learning to improve themselves.
The Key quizzes alone make this app worth it. Ive only recently begun learning to read music, and before this app my method of figuring out which key I was in was to count the sharps or flats, then start playing through the circle of 5ths or 4ths until I counted the right number. Now I can tell what key Im in with a glance, thanks to this app. I dont use it for the clef quizzes as much, because I think it is better to train myself to find the notes on a real piano keyboard. I wonder if there might be a way to hook this app up to midi, so that one could plug a midi keyboard up and take the clef quizzes that way? I think that would make a great update, especially with the new iPhone and iPad midi interfaces that are coming out this year.
I use this app with all of my violin students who need note reading help. More fun than flash cards and I love that you can set ranges so my 5 year olds can use it.
Great app, demystified so much for a beginner. Quizzes are part of my subway commuting ritual. A few minutes a day keeps the rust away.
This app is, as the title suggests, rather good. It does everything it claims to and does it well. My one issue, and what is keeping it from a 5 star rating, is that it is locked into a specific landscape mode. This is an issue if you have the standard iPad magnetic cover and like using it where its laying sort of flat-ish on a table so that the rear is raised slightly and the home button is on the left. There is probably a more elegant way of explaining that but you get my meaning. The program is set so if you do this you will be looking at it upside down. So I have to prop the end up with something to look at it comfortably. Fix that and its 5 stars all the way. Unless there is a setting I am not seeing.
Very very good app. Its really helping me to memorize my key signatures and notes. There are of course things in it that choir singers, like me, can ignore because we do not use them. Ex. Alto and Tenor clefs
Loving the training order to follow. As a Conducting Student, just would like to recommend to add Do clef (alto/tenor ones) in 1st. and 2nd. Lines, as well as the Fa clef (Bass) on 3rd. Line in order to get the whole tonality covered for transposition. Just missing that to get the 5th. Star though... A must app for those who wants to become Professional Musicians!!!
